For many of our positions, no experience is necessary. We provide training. If you are applying for a recreation position, having First Aid and CPR is helpful, but not a requirement. Please note that Kitty Hawk Surf Co.is a drug-free workplace, and employees are subject to random drug tests. Housing is available on a first come, first serve basis. Those who sign a lease and pay a security deposit first will have the best choices of housing. Note: Housing is expensive here and no housing can be held without a security deposit.

Come join us for a week of outdoor excitement! Relaxing and also challenging, this retreat offers a progressive set of lessons in kayaking, surfing, and yoga; a perfect opportunity to experience the beautiful coastal waters of North Carolina. Both woman’s only and co-ed retreats are designed to accommodate all levels of athletic ability. Healthy, organic and locally sourced meals and accommodations in a classic Outer Banks beach house are included. Our qualified and compassionate staff caters to meet the needs of clients 24 hours a day utilizing a healthy vegetarian diet and the practice of yoga to balance and support the body, enhancing the ability to develop the technical skills of surfing and kayaking. Clients leave with not only a better understanding of surfing, kayaking, and yoga but the confidence to practice these skills on their own in the future.

Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge / Sunset Kayak Tour
With the shadow of the mainland just over the horizon, this tour often provides one of the best sunsets on the Outer Banks. Here inside our nations first National Seashore you will find a landscape of beauty unknown to many who pass. Our guide will lead you through protected waters, winding marsh creeks, and vast grass flats where wading birds walk in search of food and solitude.
Hatteras Island Kayak Tour
Come with us and paddle from Hatteras Landing into the nearby creeks and waters of Pamlico Sound. Learn local Hatteras history, culture and ecology while keeping your eyes out for birds and other wildlife as you glide through the grasses and marshes between tranquil islands. In the shallows we will search for fish, crabs, and other aquatic life. Catch picturesque sunsets as they descend on the Pamlico Sound, when weather permits. Great for families, couples, and your average Joe, this tour is an ideal way to experience the nature and history of southern Hatteras Island.

Within sight of the Wright Brother’s Memorial, this area is very much as it has always been. Listen and learn as our guides unfold the secrets of these marsh waters and the creatures which call them home. Safari River Maritime Forest Kayak Tour
Experience another world as you kayak through this amber creek under a canopy of Live oaks and Red Maples. While kayaking, let our guide teach you about maritime forests. Wildlife such as turtles and snakes are very common in this area, as well as birds such as herons, egrets, woodpeckers, kingfishers, and ducks. This kayak tour is great even on windy days, due to the shelter provided by the tall trees of the forest.

Alligator River Kayak Tour

Come and see the beauty of the marsh after dark as we paddle through the night on a search for bioluminescence. Watch as fireflies from the deep create light and glow when disturbed. Although not great for bioluminescence, the full moon provides the perfect light for a paddle in the night. This is a tour not to be missed and one you won’t soon forget.

Three days of lessons for those who want to take learning to surf a couple of steps further. The first day is the same as our intro surf lesson. The next two days are spent learning how to improve your skills and how to become a more accomplished surfer. This is the most bang for your buck if you want to learn how to surf. Surfboard and leash are provided.

When we sat down to come up with a new mark for the brand we wanted to be more contemporary, relate back to the water and waves that are the foundation of the company, and at the same time not forget our local roots in the Outer Banks and Kitty Hawk.
